Feasibility of reusable continuous thrust spacecraft for cargo resupply missions to Mars

Thesis (PDF)

This research aimed to determine whether suboptimal control algorithms could enable delivery of large payloads to Mars using low-thrust propulsion systems available at the time of writting (2017). The answer is no.

As I mention in the origin story of Nyx, I still plan on redoing this research using global optimal control.
